Beaches 2012

Monterey California, Fishermen's Wharf, Two Delicious Lunches of Fish n Chips!
We visited the Monterey Aquarium (I hadn't been in 10 years and my parents in 20).
Cannery Row in Monterey (I can't wait to read Steinbeck's novel!)
We stayed at a place a few steps from the beach which made sunsets easy and wonderful!
The sand dunes lit up just as much as the water, very pretty!  Just a 6 hour drive.
Dad & Gracie, Marina Beach California
Famous Cypress trees on the 17-mile scenic drive around Pebble Beach

Schoolhouse Rock Beach, Bodega Bay (the following weekend with Dave!)  This trip took 5 hours cause of traffic, but included a visit to my favorite brewery: Lagunitas in Petaluma off of H101 at Old Redwood Hwy, a visit to my favorite Indian Restaurant for garlic naan & mango lassi near the coastal turnoff to Jenner, two days at different beaches, the redwoods and a visit to my aunt & uncle.
It was unseasonably warm and the first time I can remember not being in a jacket and knit hat at the coast.  We spent hours staring at the waves and colorful pebbles.  Wonderful to see Dave again after 2 weeks apart, him being up at the Arctic working.  This was on Father's Day, the first Father's Day I've spent with Dad in as long as I can remember.  Happy Dad's day Apja!
 Another wonderful beach!
Armstrong Redwoods State Park, relaxing, stunning and perfect as usual!
We took a new hike around the park and saw this little cave in a tree.
Fallen Leaf Lake, near Lake Tahoe.  Dave and I took a lovely hike there and in the Angora Woods.
Dave and Ponderosa Pines, before a huge Thai dinner in South Lake Tahoe
Dave and my three day South Lake Tahoe anniversary celebration (we never celebrated our 10th or 11th, or for that matter any of the previous) was beautiful.  We stayed at 3 Peaks Resort and Beach Club at South Lake Tahoe and mostly used the private beach for reading in the morning and at sunset.  The jacuzzi tub was a welcome addition, as was all the delicious food (Orchid Thai near H89 turnoff).
My time with family flew by with the usual physically qualifying for Antarctica and catching up.  We went to Kings Beach Lake Tahoe and Galena Park my first weekend, Monterey California the second, Bodega Bay with Dave the third and Dave and I are leaving for Alaska this weekend.  It was wonderful, and I'm blessed to have seen our grandparents and to have visited so many beautiful places.  Thank you, love you guys very much!!!
