On September 14th, we celebrated the life and loving memory of my sweet Grandma in Reno. It was incredibly difficult and touching; and a blessing to be surrounded by family at such a hard time.
Colors had begun to change in McCall with cooler temperatures.
We had a long season of construction, both in the front and back of our condo. Pretty cool sight from the couch watching the excavators do their work!
The huckleberry bushes were especially colorful in Ponderosa State Park in McCall.
We followed bear tracks in the fresh snow on a beautiful hike off Brundage road. Winter was trying to start early this year.
We had a wonderful dinner and pumpkin carving event at our friend Anne & Damon's, and got to meet our friend Todd & Norah's newborn baby Myrna.
One of our favorite bike rides along a water canal in Lake Fork was very colorful this autumn, there's a herd of elk back there that could be heard bugling. Google it... It sounds like alien space ships!
We spent several long and physically challenging days working on our property to make it fire wise. We trimmed the bottoms of some of our trees up to 18 feet, raked the dead foliage and hauled most of it to the dump. There's a lot more work to do here.
We made several trips with this Uhaul, the dump has free yard debris disposal every fall.
The colors were beautiful in the aspen groves in Ponderosa State Park, which we can walk to from our condo in town.

We rode our fat tire bikes along the shore of the lake in a couple different locations. Both were incredibly fun!
Starkey Hot Springs was one of our favorite places to visit with friends this fall. It's about a 45 minute drive from us and sits along the Weiser River. It's very peaceful and beautiful. It's only open in the afternoon, there are no kids allowed and they only ask for a small donation.
It is rewarding to see how much more fire wise and well kept our property looks after our efforts.
We returned to our property to do more yard-work and ended up burning what was left. Our setup was pretty comfortable for the bon fires, complete with music, lawn chairs and champagne.
This was one of our first hikes in the snow this fall, on the Secesh Summit on Warren Wagon Rd. We saw a bobcat!
Our trip to Boise in mid-October treated us with beautiful colors all over the city.

I got to leave work to attend Resource Conservation and Recovery Act training in Chicago for a week at the end of October. My Antarctic Fuels friend Jen drove from Iowa to meet up my first day there.
So blessed and lucky to have such great friends. We had a great day!!!

Back in McCall, we took some icy hikes. This one was to Boulder Lake.
Our friends Scott and Meghan came to visit again in McCall and we took them on some scenic and adventurous hikes.
This was their second visit to McCall from Washington where they live, and I was happy to show them more of the countryside.
Burgdorf Hot Springs in mid-November, on a pleasantly deserted day, which never happens anymore.
In late November, I visited my family and we took a few California trips. We spent a great day hiking in Auburn along the river.

We also took the opportunity to visit the California coast. A windy sunset at Bodega Bay.
The following day was perfectly warm and gorgeous. Great wave watching at Schoolhouse Rocks Beach.
We spent hours watching the waves rolling in and staring at the colorful small rocks on the beach.
We took a stroll in Armstrong Redwoods State Park.

Back in McCall, fall was beginning to give way to winter. Although we were blessed with numerous blue sky days. What a great place to call Home!
We drank hot cocoa underneath our McCall city Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.

New Year's was awesome! We stayed in this small orange cabin in Riggins and went for a long and incredibly scenic bike ride along the Salmon River. It was snowing during our ride, but that didn't deter us. We saw elk along the way and the river was wildly green.

On New Year's Day we took a long and beautiful hike on the Fish Hatchery Road trail in Riggins. It was a sunny day and we were so happy to be snow free!
