Springtime in Boise came earlier than McCall as usual. We saw flowering trees on our way back up to work. We spent the night at an Airbnb in the North End and got to see Julie and Adam at Cloud Nine.

On our way to brunch Julie with the brick she and Adam bought. Dave rode his bike while we gals were at brunch and met us later along with Adam for a beer at Cloud Nine Brewing.
At work, these beautiful mountains were on the drive to Valdez where I was co-instructing an oil spill response day long course to the workers who maintain and inspect the pipeline that crosses the state.

Downtown was incredibly picturesque and the sun was up late so I got plenty of chances to photograph it.
I enjoyed the view so much that I began talking to Dave about joining me for the next trip.
After work, a gorgeous stay in Boise included a visit to Edwards Greenhouse which Dave discovered.

Back in McCall, the lake was defrosted but some snow still remained.

We found this gorgeous view from a historic cemetery close to the Gold Fork River.
We tried and loved the Food Land Market on Orchard street with its Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine and market. I want to go back for baklava and Turkish coffee.

Back in McCall, I finally made a Brahmin dish called Toovar Dal, a recipe from Bette. It took a while to find the exotic spices like asafoetida and black mustard seeds. It was smooth and tasty. This was the first step, combining and heating the spices to open up their flavors.
We got some more snowfall as it was still early spring in McCall.
A bit of snow remained. This was the walk on the new boardwalk in town.
I made the wildflower bombs that Amy bought us. It was a fun project!
Once made, we spread them around near our townhome and our walk along the path to our condo.

Back in Boise on our way back to work, we walked along the river.
We saw some adorable baby geese there.
And after almost three long weeks at work, I was back on the drive from Anchorage to Valdez.
This time I was the chief and only trainer for the two day long courses and driving myself the whole way.
But I had the joy of Dave's company for the trip as I really wanted him to see the beautiful mountains.
He agreed that it was one of the prettiest places we've seen in Alaska.

It was great to be somewhere beautiful in Alaska and great to be together.

We had some delicious vegan meals out followed by walks to see the boats.

We haven't vacationed since Covid except to Oregon, so this felt a bit like a getaway.
We were incredibly lucky to have sunny weather in one of the rainiest places in the state.

Back in Boise, I got a night at an Airbnb to prepare for surgery. This gorgeous flowering shrub was on the Airbnb property.
After the surgery and drive up to McCall, we came home to a sweet sight.

And Dave bought me the most beautiful flowers.

A week after surgery, we had to return to Boise for my checkup so we decided to buy some plants to plant our summertime garden from Edwards Greenhouse.

Our drive up was incredibly gorgeous as there were purple fields of wildflowers all over Valley County!

We went to the lake late to see the locals fireworks the week before July 4th.
They didn't disappoint. We even saw bats flying above.

We had a colorful spring. As the surgery and recovery kept me close to home I got to see and tend to our flowers as well as see the ones in the gardens, parks and Boise. And what a great thing to see Dave more!
