These photos encompass framing work from October 14 through the end of December 2025.
We started framing on October 14, with the biggest push lasting 10/14 - 10/20 with Speedy's framing crew for the garage and simultaneous framing crew for the house portions. We had Dave, Dave Webster, Josh & Ildi for the house portion with a crane operator we hired.

October 15th; the panels for the house and how they fit onto the concrete slab.

We had to add some extra foam into the gaps between the factory made wall pieces.

Fourth wall up. They came in small sections and each required us to find it on the delivery truck, often times move other panels out of the way. Cut off the black material covering the sides, add adhesive tape, add the rigging and secure it to the crane before it got swung into place.
At 6:41 pm, the roof trusses were being swung on the garage!
October 16th, we started with the roof panels for our home.
Dave and Dave were securing them into place, while I was rigging and line handling (or photographing as you can see).

7:07pm on October 16th, we were enjoying our new garage and the beautiful views.

October 17th had in store a lot of time for me on the roof taping seams. Dave and Dave installed the cold roof pieces.
We usually set up a work bench in the front where I would place pizza, burritos, sandwiches, chicken etc for lunch and donut boxes in the morning. The guys would come over and start feasting.

October 20th before driving down to the airport to head to work, I took the opportunity to use the skid steer that would be returned to the rental shop to move some dirt and make a mound to protect the electrical box and water well from impact from someone driving on the driveway. It will be a garden of wildflowers
October 21: our developer installed septic piping.
As well as the drainage pipes in the field on the west side of our property.

Dave and Josh continued on the interior of the house, with spray foam and tape between the roof panels.
They then installed the strapping that drywall will attach to.
They continued by framing out the rooms on the inside of the home.
October 23, the roofers came to prepare the roof for the winter.
They finished putting down the underlayment on October 24th.
October 26: the view from our home. Snow had already fallen in the mountains.
Dave spent a long time working carefully to seal the bottom of our home's foam pieces so that bugs and moisture won't get inside the panels. Lots of time crawling around and working on his back.

Dave and Josh made incredible progress! This pano from October 29th shows how much they were able to frame indoors.
This is the art rendering of our future breezeway on our design/architectural plans. Dave and Josh set about framing it on October 30th.
By October 31st, they had gotten the huge beams into place just the two of them.
And got it covered on November 1st with Zip sheathing.
November 2nd, Dave worked on more of the protective layers for the bottoms of the foam panels.

November 3rd, the openings for the doors and windows were covered using leftover radon barrier plastic.
Home from work, on November 6th I moved some rocks for landscaping.
And recycled plastics and papers from the construction site.
I brought the construction guys (Dave, Dave and Josh) and whomever was on site donuts, lunch and drinks but on November 7th, a rainy day, I made savory stuffed crescent rolls to go with their coffee.
November 7th: they begin the installation of the beams on the south side of our home.
I watched Josh's dog while they worked to keep her out of danger.
They worked incredibly fast and finished installation by 5:29pm!
On November 9th, our friends came to see our progress. Todd & Nora's youngest Willa behind us.

November 10th; Dave started installing the strapping that the siding would attach to on the home.
And November 11th the metal brackets for the beams and posts on the south side of our home.

November 13th, the water guy came to install the faucet to our well.

November 14th, the boards the metal wainscoting would attach to.
November 16th, we took a progress photo with our drone for our Christmas cards we mailed out.

November 26 the snow blanketed our job site.
Dave bought a snowblower to be able to clear a path for the vehicles.
And he staked out the driveway for the winter months.
December 1st: the roofers began putting our metal roof on.
They also put on the metal wainscoting on the bottom of our home and garage.
In order to continue working without windows and doors, Dave had to use electric and propane heaters.
He installed a plywood front door to keep the heat in.
Dave made and installed a beautiful soffit on the house also.
December 6th: we went out to photograph our accomplishment.
The snow melted and we had several sunny days, so December 13th we went out to landscape behind our garage and home on the west side to prepare for the HVAC unit.
Dave leveled the area and installed a weed mat before adding sand and rocks.

It was an incredibly labor intensive three months, especially for Dave who continued working on construction while I was in Alaska at work. We were in a race against winter and wanted to do everything we could to protect our investment from water damage over the winter and rainy spring months ahead. Unfortunately, our windows that were supposed to arrive mid October didn't until the following spring so it was a challenge to make a warm work space for the crews.
