Family Visit in Reno & Biking

I had a wonderful time in Reno, thank you Mom & Dad, Dora & Tia!  We dined like stars, enjoyed paddle-boating in Tahoe, our walk in Carson, Tia's 2nd Birthday party...Thank you everyone for coming!!!! and lots of great family time!

Since my return, it's been work as usual, meaning a super busy August.  We're photographing 7 Zipline tours a day as well as daily raft trips and weddings and family reunions every weekend. It's great while it lasts, as the slow season is closing in.  We've been biking on our "day" off. Dave's been taking the mountain bike out to Ponderosa, Bear Basin & Tamarack.  Meanwhile, I've been on some amazing road bike rides, each around 25 miles long, mostly off of Warren Wagon road.  This picture was from friday when I rode from the summit to the hot springs and back.  I spent more time at the springs than on the bike, so it was a fabulous day!  Recognize the reunion shirt?  :)  It doubles well as a safety shirt for biking and hiking during hunting season.

The music festival in Roseberry was a delight!  It was our first year ever, since we've normally worked through it.  We made it to two of the three nights, and the bands were phenomenal.  This one in particular, Elephant Revival,  was so amazing that I can't wait to buy the CD.  You should look for some of their clips on Youtube, it's well worth the search.  

The huckleberry picking is great this year.  Tons of huge ones everywhere!  

I hiked the Loon Lake trail, while Polly, Artie, and Dave mountain biked it.  Tippy ran behind them, so he had the best workout.  We camped there the night before, so it was a wonderful weekend!  We traded beers for some morel mushrooms, photographed above.  

We also hiked some of the Crestline Trail to Blackwell Lake (where most of the wildflower pics are from).  And Dave's had the chance to do some amazing mountain bike rides at Tamarack and Ponderosa, while I've enjoyed the road bike for some nice country road bike rides (my longest was 23.4 miles from Tamarack to McCall via Farm to Market Road).

Ildi's Family Visit

Mom, Dad & Gracie came for the July 4th weekend, and it was wonderful!

This was the first year I got to see the fireworks because I wasn't working, and I got to enjoy it with Mom, Dave, Polly & Artie while Dad and Gracie rested up for the festivities to come.  We had a relaxing day on the beach, enjoyed the blossoming bear grass on the Secesh Summit, soaked up Bergdorf hot spring, and celebrated Dave's birthday with a dinner at the Bistro 45. The next day we fished two lakes and a river, explored some natural hot springs and boated on Lake Cascade, which happened to be Gracie's favorite activity of the weekend.  What an awesome dog!

Dave's Family Visit

It was awesome to have the Koehlingers back in Idaho in the summertime.  Isaac and Grandma's first visit!!  There was boating, hiking, kayaking, a zipline tour, an auto tour, a sweet hot tub, and tons of cards and meals and laughs.  We had such a great time!  Thank you so much for coming!

Mushrooms & Snow in Mid-June

 

The morel mushroom hunting season was awesome this year, because they love burn areas.  There were groups of migrant workers picking them walking shoulder to shoulder at Warm Lake.  Dave and I went to the Gray's creek burn (the fire that came close to our property last summer) and found quite a few.  Enough for 4 delicious meals!  And we had 3 inches of snow on June 14, which was 6 inches in the mountains.  That was craziness, although very beautiful.
